VIDEOS: Mediterrana Enters Maltese Waters

Armada LNG Mediterrana, the Floating Storage Unit (FSU) owned by Malaysia-based offshore oil & gas services provider Bumi Armada, arrived in Malta on October 10, 2016, where she will provide storage facility and supply gas to the country’s Delimara power station.

The 1985-built vessel, former Wakaba Maru, is expected to be permanently moored by a jetty near the Delimara LNG receiving terminal, at Marsaxlokk Bay, and deliver LNG on a continuous basis, without dry-docking interruption, during the entire project life of 18 years, to the onshore regasification plant feeding natural gas to the 400 MW power station.

The FSU was converted from the Moss LNG carrier. The project, which lasted for 17 months, was part of a USD 300 million contract inked between Bumi Armada and ElectroGas Malta Limited (EGM) in April 2015.

Following her arrival in the country, the Armada LNG Mediterrana underwent sea trials, according to Konrad Mizzi, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister in Malta.
